Meet Our Teachers

I am originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  I received my higher education at Universidad APEC-Acción Pro Educación y Cultura. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees.  I taught Spanish to foreign children in the Dominican Republic through a non-profit organization. I came to the United States in 2006. I spent 6 years teaching Spanish at BeLingual, and the last 2 years teaching Spanish at Espanate.  I love what I do because the most inspiring feeling to me is to see my students learn and achieve, and I love sharing my language and culture with children.

Ernestina

Teacher/ Director

I am a Spanish native from Sevilla (Spain), I started in childcare as a teenager.  I now work as Art and Flamenco dance teacher in several public preschools. With 6 years of experience, I is advocates strongly that patience and being playful are the keys for kids to learn a new language. During my lessons, I include dancing and singing activities, showing the kids that a new language can also be fun!

My name is Gabriela! I have a passion for teaching children and have studied Education in college. Before becoming a Spanish Teacher, I worked as a first-grade teacher in my city Caracas, Venezuela. My other great passion is dancing. I enjoy the energy that allows expressing yourself through movement. I have participated in many dance competitions such as Latin dance and Hip Hop at Broadway Dance Center and other schools.

I have been teaching Spanish since September 2018. I consider myself a creative teacher and boundless energy. I love and thrive on developing my student’s potential. I have more than 4 years of experience and think that there’s no better feeling than seeing your students finally “got it”

I am Marité Nicolau a fashion designer, yoga teacher and always a devoted yogi. I was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to the USA in 2012.  After 8 years of practicing yoga, I wanted to find a way to give back and share the healing experience of yoga with others. I am a member of the Yoga Alliance since 2016. My passion for teaching is in making yoga accessible for everyone, regardless of age and physical ability. I like to explore with alignment and breathing techniques each posture and the effects it has on our bodies as a whole. Yoga is not exclusive, is the opposite, it is for Everyone. I work with kids and adults teaching in English and Spanish, and my classes are fun and engaging. I have always been passionate about working with children and I’ve learned that with body movement, practice and repetition it’s easier to learn a new language too.

My name is Elen Marie Vargas. I am a Spanish native speaker from the Dominican Republic with a background in Design and Early Education. I am currently persuading an undergraduate in Media Studies at The New School. My passion is to travel, learn and share with my students all the fantastic things that may be possible when you know a second language. I have more than 6 years of experience as a Spanish teacher working at private schools and summer camps outside of the USA and I’m currently having the wonderful experience of being part of Espáñate, teaching at preschools all around  New York City and private one on one and group lessons.

I truly believe that learning a second language at an early age enhances the development of social and cognitive skills. As a teacher, I make sure that each of my students acquires the second language through a natural approach through immersion and repetition as if it was their first language. I sing, play, dance, read, and create a cultural atmosphere which takes into account their stage of development. I love what I do and I make sure that my students enjoy every moment of their learning experience.
